November 8 – November 15, 2020: Virtual 5K

We are excited to announce the 3rd annual Positive Impact for Kids 5K! In order to comply with social distancing guidelines, we will be hosting a completely virtual 5K walk/run in order to raise funds for pediatric patients and enhance their hospitalization experience amidst the pandemic. September 18, 2020: Leanne’s 21st Birthday Fundraiser

Through social media, Leanne requested donations to Positive Impact for Kids in honor of her birthday. Leanne’s goal to raise enough money for an iPad for a pediatric hospital was exceeded. It is with deep gratitude and appreciation that Leanne thanks all who participated in making her birthday one she will cherish forever.

September – October 2020: Apres Racquet & Paddle Fundraiser

We are honored to be a part of Apres Racquet & Paddle’s doubles tennis tournament and fundraiser. Thank you to all of the participants, supporters, sponsors, and this forward thinking tennis club.

March 22, 2020: Rock N’ Run 5K, Greenville, SC

Leanne, currently a sophomore at Furman University, is working with a team of six other students to plan this 5K. The funds raised from this event will benefit SC children’s hospitals. A raffle, food, and musical performance will follow the race. Please visit our March 5K page on this website for additional information.

UPDATE: The race is being moved to the fall semester for health and safety purposes. We will provide additional information when a new date is determined. Thank you for your patience and support.

February 19-21, 2020: T-Mobile Changemaker Challenge Workshop, Bellevue, Washington

Leanne and Emily, a member of the PIFK youth advisory board, are honored to travel on an all-expense paid trip to the T-Mobile headquarters. They will attend a three-day intensive workshop centered around project development and connecting with other youth leaders.

June 17-19, 2019: Multiplying Good’s Jefferson Awards Ceremony and Youth Summit, Washington D.C.

This three-day celebration of service brought philanthropic individuals and corporations together to recognize the impact of their efforts while providing unparalleled networking opportunities. Leanne also led the Think Big Team’s effort of planning and orchestrating Multiplying Good’s youth summit at their national awards ceremony. This event is held for approximately 100 teenage leaders who participate in the Students in Action program across the United States.

March 10-11, 2019: Multiplying Good’s Jefferson Awards Ceremony Fundraiser (formerly the Jefferson Awards Foundation), New York

As Co-President of Multiplying Good’s national youth advisory board, the Think Big Team, Leanne helped to facilitate this national fundraiser. This awards ceremony captures the purpose of volunteerism while providing an incredible opportunity to network.

November 2018: Orange County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina

The Sheriff’s Office continued their No Shave November initiative raising funds for Positive Impact for Kids. We will again utilize 100% of this generous donation to purchase distraction tools for UNC Children’s Hospital. Thank you to all who participated!

June 25-27, 2018: Jefferson Awards Foundation Youth Summit

As a youth advisory board member, Leanne facilitated the youth summit for award winners and accompanied celebrated guests to their senate visits. Leanne had the honor of networking with recognized adult philanthropists at the gala.

June 12, 2018: Leanne received the Paul Harris Fellow Award

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Sunrise Rotary Club presented Leanne with this prestigious honor for her philanthropic service.

April 28, 2018: Distraction Day at Duke Children’s Hospital

Leanne will provide a gift for each inpatient child as well as craft activities for patients and siblings to enjoy together. The child life department is supporting Leanne in hosting this event which will bring countless smiles throughout the pediatric unit.

December 13, 2017: MIX 101.5 Radiothon for Duke Children’s Hospital

Leanne spoke about her medical journey and philanthropy on air which helped raise over $656,000 to benefit Duke Children’s Hospital.

December 2, 2017: Positive Impact for Kids 5K presented by Duke Health

The Chapel Hill Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office are partnering with Positive Impact for Kids to facilitate our second annual 5K (walk/run) fundraiser and Chase the Chief Fun Run for kids. Chief Chris Blue of the Chapel Hill Police Department will give the kids (age 12 and under) a one minute head start and then race them in a one mile run. All pre-registered fun run participants will receive a prize! Top prizes will also be presented to the 5K first, second, and third place male and female. The 5K will start at 1pm and the fun run will start at 2:15pm. The event will take place in Southern Community Park, Chapel Hill. All proceeds will benefit Duke Children’s Hospital and UNC Children’s Hospital.

October 21, 2017: 3rd Massachusetts Fundraiser

Charity Tennis Night is a fun filled evening of tennis, music, and food held at the Scituate Racquet & Fitness Club. Join us for exciting silent & live auctions including trips, signed sports memorabilia, concert tickets, and more! All proceeds benefit Boston area hospitals. October 16, 2017: Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.)

Chapter BP, of this international organization, invited Leanne to speak to their members about her philanthropy.

August 15, 2017: Chapel Hill-Carrboro Sunrise Rotary Club Presentation

Leanne will be speaking to the members of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Sunrise Rotary Club about her philanthropy and experience at their teen leadership conference.

December 4, 2016: 5K Run

The Chapel Hill Police Department is partnering with us to facilitate the Duke Health 5K in Chapel Hill’s Southern Community Park. Afterwards, we will have a 1 mile race for children 12 and under called Chase the Chief. With a 1 minute head start, see if your child can beat Chief Blue to the finish line! We are currently seeking corporate sponsors and registering runners/walkers. Proceeds will benefit Duke Children’s and UNC Children’s Hospitals through Positive Impact for Kids. November 5, 2016: 2nd Annual Massachusetts Fundraiser

Tickets are now on sale for our Charity Tennis Night at the Scituate Racquet & Fitness Club. Join us for an evening of Tennis, Music, Food, and Fun! Exciting Silent & Live Auctions including a 5 day/4 night ALL Inclusive vacation for 4 in the Riviera Maya, Mexico! All proceeds benefit Boston area hospitals.

November 2016:  The Blue Knights of Orange & Alamance Counties

Positive Impact for Kids was chosen as the non-profit to benefit from their November raffle. Please see any member to purchase a ticket. We are very grateful for this honor and appreciative of all who participated.

The Sheriff’s Office chose Positive Impact for Kids to be the recipient of funds raised from their No Shave November Campaign! Positive Impact for Kids will use 100% of the donated funds to benefit UNC Children’s Hospital. A special thank you to the Sheriff’s Office and everyone who joined in the fun of this philanthropic event.

June 21-22, 2016: Speak Now For Kids Family Advocacy Day in Washington, DC

Leanne was honored to be a guest of Mark Wietecha, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Children’s Hospital Association, at this important event. Leanne educated members of Congress about her non-profit while other teens shared their stories to help Congress better understand the necessity of National funding and programs that further children’s health.

May 22, 2016: Walking On A Dream Fashion Show

Leanne is hosting the silent auction (benefiting Positive Impact for Kids) at this exciting fundraising event sponsored by Rishi Salon & Spa being held in Southern Village. Leanne is a guest speaker and will also be modeling in the fashion show which benefits HomeStart Residential Facility.

Leanne and Sam Beard, President of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service, spoke with Chancellor Washington about furthering Leanne’s non-profit on a local and national level.

April 2016: Culbreth Middle School Fundraiser

The GALS (Girls At Lunch and Service) group are hosting a school wide fundraiser collecting nail polish and boy’s body spray (highly requested items from hospital wish lists). This group of girls has incredible determination and philanthropic spirit!

February 11, 2016: The Blue Knights of Orange & Alamance Counties

Leanne is honored to speak to this philanthropic group of local law enforcement officers who enjoy riding motorcycles. A special thank you to Stan Newsome and J.S.C. Kirk for their support in arranging this exciting opportunity.

February 3, 2016: Culbreth Middle School

Positive Impact for Kids was selected to receive funds collected from students as they focus on philanthropy. We are excited to be part of this incredible program!

December 17, 2015: Join us at Kendra Scott

We will be at Kendra Scott at the Southpoint Mall from 6-8pm. 20% of all sales will benefit Positive Impact for Kids. A special thank you to Logan Ward for her support and generosity.

November 21, 2015: Massachusetts Tennis Tournament Fundraiser

A tennis tournament will be held at The Scituate Racquet & Fitness Club from 6-10pm. This exciting event will include tennis, food/beverages, raffles and auctions. We are so grateful to so many businesses and professional sports teams for their incredible donations for our live and silent auctions.

October 1 – October 31, 2014: Gift Card Craze

Leanne is collecting gift cards (or money to purchase gift cards) to iTunes, Walmart, Target and Sephora to be given to hospitals for the hospitalized teens they serve. The goal of this first annual fundraiser is to alleviate stress, pain and anxiety in hospitalized teens while motivating teens to become involved in philanthropic work. Sephora, Massage Envy, and the Carolina Hurricanes have donated very generous gifts for the top 5 fundraising teens. We appreciate the support of these forward thinking businesses and thank everyone who participates in this exciting event.

August 12, 2014: Chapel Hill-Carrboro Sunrise Rotary Club Presentation

Leanne will present to the members of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Sunrise Rotary Club at their weekly meeting.  We appreciate David Stuckey’s assistance in organizing this terrific opportunity a second year in a row.

June 7, 2014: Rubber Duck Race!

We have been invited to participate in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Sunrise Rotary Club Duck Race on the Eno River. Leanne is selling ducks for $10 that will race at West Point on the Eno at 11:00 am., rain or shine. You do not need to be present to win. The first 20 ducks to pass the finish line will win very generous prizes like a $1000 gift card from American Express or $250 gift cards from Target, Whole Foods, and Pottery Barn! Positive Impact for Kids will keep $5 of each duck sale. Thank you to the Rotary Club for including us in this exciting event and to all those who support us by purchasing a duck or a flock of ducks! We want to thank Whole Foods for selecting us as the beneficiary of their 5% Donation Day on Tuesday October 15th. On this day we will generously receive 5% of their net proceeds. October 6, 2013: Chapel Hill Festifall

Positive Impact for Kids was selected by the Town of Chapel Hill Department of Parks & Recreation, to have an exhibit at Chapel Hill’s Festifall Arts Festival.  We are very excited to provide education and increase community awareness about Leanne’s work during this fun day.

July 27, 2013: Whole Foods Ice Cream Social

Come and experience the ULTIMATE Make-Your-Own Sundae Bar from 2-5 at the Chapel Hill location!  Whole Foods is generously donating 50% of all proceeds to Positive Impact for Kids.

May 11, 2013: BB&T Fundraiser

We are very honored and excited to be the non-profit chosen to benefit from BB&T ‘s (Elliott Road Branch, Chapel Hill, NC) fundraising event. The staff will be hosting a car & dog wash in their parking lot! Come join the fun-$10 per car, $10 per small dog, $15 per large dog.

May 10, 2013: Culbreth Middle School Dance

We are very excited to be the recipient of the proceeds from the 6th and 7th grade dance. We are also grateful to all of the local businesses who donated raffle prizes for this event on behalf of Positive Impact for Kids.

April 24, 2013: Belk Charity Sale

We are very grateful to Belk for inviting us to participate in their morning of special savings event that benefits local charities on April 27th.  We are selling $5 private tickets to this event and then Positive Impact for Kids keeps the money from the ticket sales.  Those who buy tickets receive a $5 credit on their first purchase at Belk on the 27th.  A win/win opportunity for all thanks to Belk and our local shoppers!

April 13, 2013: Harris Teeter Supermarket

We want to thank everyone who supported Positive Impact for Kids at Harris Teeter in Carrboro by learning about our non-profit and through your generous donations.  We raised lots of awareness and $220.  This money will put many smilles on the faces of hospitalized children.  A special thank you to Harris Teeter’s corporate office for their support in coordinating this event.

April 4, 2013: Carolina Hurricane Game

We want to thank the Carolina Hurricanes for letting us raise awareness of our non-profit during the Cane’s game.  We met some wonderful fans while providing education about Positive Impact for Kids.

February 28, 2013: Scout & Molly’s Fundraiser

Please join us for a private night of shopping, food and wine at Scout & Molly’s boutique. As our special guest, you will receive 15% off your total purchase. Mollybeads will have their exclusive jewelry there for us and there will be an exciting raffle including a spa treatment and a UNC basketball signed by Roy Williams. Can’t make it between 6-9PM, the store will generously be crediting purchases throughout the day towards this special event.

November 1, 2012: Candy Buyback Fundraiser

Clifton & Mauney Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry had their 10th annual candy buyback fundraiser.  They paid $2 for each pound of Halloween candy surrendered at their office by their patients.  They then matched the total amount paid out dollar for dollar, donating the proceeds to Positive Impact for Kids.  They bought back over 300 pounds of Halloween candy and presented us with a check for over $700!  We are very grateful to this wonderful dental practice for their generosity and support.

July 6, 2012: Hospital Fundraiser

Cabell Huntington Hospital-Hoops Family Children’s Hospital in West VA is partnering with Positive Impact for Kids on July 6th for a fundraising event. The event will be held at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Day Care. The Geneva Kent Jump Rope Team will be spending time with the children there to perform and then teach the children and staff how to jump and improve their jump rope skills. All profits received from donations will be used to make purchases for Hoops Family Children’s Hospital from their wish list to benefit the children they serve. We are very grateful to the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital for their partnership and for all of their support with this event. We also want to acknowledge the Fifth Avenue Baptist Day Care staff, children and families for their interest and support. Lastly, this event would not be possible without the generous donation of time, skill and energy from the magnificent Geneva Kent Jump Rope Team. Many thanks to all-
